HC Deb 13 June 1955 vol 542 c268
40. Mr. Dodds

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works, as representing the Lord President of the Council, what pro dress has been made in the investigations to find out the effect of exhaust fumes of motor vehicles on health in congested areas.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works (Mr. J. R. Bevins)

I regret that I can at present add nothing to the reply I gave the hon. Member on 5th May.

Mr. Dodds

Could the Parliamentary Secretary state in what towns these experiments are to take place? Previously he mentioned one of them. How long is it expected to be before some information can be obtained from these experiments?

Mr. Bevins

I cannot give the hon. Gentleman a full list of the towns, but the experiments are taking place in London and various provincial cities. The research must, however, be carried out thoroughly if it is to have any value. I assure the hon. Gentleman that it is being carried out with all expedition.
