HC Deb 10 June 1955 vol 542 c143
Mr. Crookshank

I beg to move, That, until the adjournment of the House for the Summer Recess, Government business shall have precedence at every sitting and that no Bills other than Government Bills be introduced. This is a Motion which perhaps the House can take formally. It was referred to by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister yesterday and it provides that private Members' time will not begin until the autumn, which is, of course, the most convenient way of arranging that part of our business. However, it does mean that no Bills can be brought in under the Ten Minutes' Rule until the autumn, because, otherwise, they would have precedence over those which hon. Members might decide to introduce as a result of being successful in the Ballot. I should be glad to answer any questions which hon. Members may like to put to me.

Question put and agreed to.
