asked the Minister of Labour the total number of men rejected for National Service during last year as being medically unfit; and if he will express this as a percentage of the total number of men examined.

Some 47,000 men were found medically unfit for National Service in the year 1954; this represents 19.5 per cent. of the total number of men examined.

Mr. Shepherd

In view of the very large number of men who are found unfit for military service, is it not wholly undesirable that individual cases should be bandied about on the Floor of this House?
