asked the Minister of Labour how many of the men unemployed from the Swanley Depot of British Road Services have been found work as drivers; and what proportion of the 50 men who received notice he hopes will be re-absorbed as drivers in that area.

Of the 51 men concerned, 37 were drivers and, while the prospects of finding employment for all of them are good, I understand that the number of local vacancies for drivers is limited.

Mr. Irving

Will the right hon. and learned Gentleman consult his right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation to see how many of these drivers who have been displaced because of Government policy can be re-absorbed into the trunk services which are to be retained?
