asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to state the subsidies, given separately, for each subsidised commodity for the year 1954–55.

Following is the latest available estimate of the subsidies in respect of food for the year 1954–55:

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food the estimated subsidies, given separately, for each subsidised commodity for the purpose of the Supplementary Estimate dated 5th July, 1955.

Mr. Amory

The figures for each commodity are brought together in the table on pages 30 and 31 of the 1955–56 Supplementary Estimate (H.C. 27).

Mr. Willey

Would not the right hon. Gentleman agree that it would be more helpful to put them in a form comparable with figures given in previous years?

There has had to be a change in the set-up this year, but perhaps we shall have a chance to discuss that tomorrow.
