§ 6. Mr. Gowerasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many farmers were under supervision in Wales and in England, respectively, at the latest convenient date; and how these figures compare with the respective figures three years ago.
Mr. AmoryOn 31st May, 1955, sixty-seven farmers in Wales and 365 in England were under supervision for failing to comply with the rules of good husbandry. The comparable figures for 1952 are, Wales 324 and England 1,194.
§ Mr. GowerIn view of the difficulties of farming in many parts of Wales, does 1277 my right hon. Friend not think that the figure for Wales seems rather high in comparison with the figure for England?
Mr. AmoryIf my hon. Friend looks at those figures, he will see that the figures for Wales are proportionately low.
