§ 15. Captain Pilkingtonasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether, in view of the daily congestion of traffic at the Victoria and Alexandra Gates of Hyde Park, he will construct roundabouts at both places forthwith.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterWork in the parks is within the control of my right hon. Friend the Minister of Works. I am discussing these questions with him and the highway authorities concerned.
§ Captain PilkingtonIn view of the terrible congestion at both these entrances, does my right hon. Friend not think that action ought to be hastened? Does not the layout there allow for the construction of roundabouts, which would speed up the traffic? Will my right hon. Friend look at the situation there himself, to see how bad it is?
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterI am well aware of the facts about both those places, but I must not be led into giving an expression of opinion on matters in which I am only one of the three authorities concerned.
