HC Deb 24 February 1955 vol 537 c1429
25. Mr. Page

asked the Minister of Labour what representations he has received recently concerning an inquiry into the Dock Labour Scheme; and what action he proposes to take thereon.

Mr. Watkinson

Representations were made to my right hon. and learned Friend in November last by the National Association of Port Employers suggesting that the time had arrived when there should be an investigation into the operation of the Dock Labour Scheme. In accordance with the undertaking given by Lord Munster in another place on 16th November, the National Association of Port Employers and the various interested trade unions have recently been invited to discuss with my officers the desirability of instituting an inquiry into the workings of the National Dock Labour Scheme.
