§ 13. Mr. Doddsasked the Minister of Agriculture for what reason powers under Section 11 of the Sea Fish Industry Act, 1951, were used in connection with the investigation into the prices and profits in the fish industry.
Mr. AmoryThese powers have not yet been used for this purpose but are available to the White Fish Authority, which is preparing a sample investigation.
§ Mr. DoddsIs the Minister not aware that the Report of the White Fish Authority dated 31st March, 1953, makes it clear that catchers and traders are not supplying the information that is required, and that there is need to have some compulsory methods? In view of that, why have the powers not been used? Why are we so kind to the people who are refusing to give this information?
Mr. AmoryI think it quite likely that the White Fish Authority may decide to invoke Section 11 in connection with its present sampling arrangements.
