HC Deb 10 February 1955 vol 536 c2045
11. Lieut.-Colonel Hyde

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps he is taking to give effect to the recommendations of the Committee on Departmental Records.

Mr. H. Brooke

A good deal of progress has been made in examining the Committee's proposals and the Government hope shortly to be in a position to make a statement.

Lieut.-Colonel Hyde

Will my hon. Friend pay particular attention to those recommendations which do not involve any legislative changes, particularly the question of opening certain records before 50 years have elapsed?

Mr. Brooke

I will certainly draw the attention of the Chancellor of the Exchequer to what my hon. and gallant Friend has just said.
