62. Mrs. Whiteasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he will now announce his decision on the temporary road bridge at Queensferry, Flintshire.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterIn view of the high cost involved, I regret that I am unable to approve the construction of a temporary bridge which will cease to be necessary when the by-pass is constructed.
Mrs. WhiteIf the Minister cannot approve this scheme, can he not put forward an alternative proposal for what is a serious traffic bottleneck, as his predecessor undoubtedly recognised?
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterI am perfectly prepared to consider any suggestion that the local highway authority makes. I appreciate the point made by the hon. Lady, but the sum of £100,000 which would be involved for a temporary bridge, which would become unnecessary in a few years' time, would not be a reasonable proposition.
