HC Deb 09 February 1955 vol 536 cc1882-4
22. Mr. Janner

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation the number of days on which traffic in each airport in the United Kingdom was held up or delayed through fog during the last six months.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

As the answer is very detailed and contains a large number of figures, I will, with permission, circulate it in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Following is the answer:

The criteria selected are:—

  1. (a) Visual range less than 440 yards (possible landing delays)
  2. (b) Visual range less than 150 yards (possible landing and take-off delays)

Airport Number of days and number of hours per day in the six months August, 1954 to January, 1955, when:—

  2. (2) Whether and to what extent traffic was actually delayed on any of these occasions is not known.
