HC Deb 02 February 1955 vol 536 c1086
40. Mr. Bence

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what representations he has received respecting the maintenance base at Renfrew Airport.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I have had a number of representations on this subject, both from hon. Members and from local interests.

Mr. Bence

Is the Minister aware that the suggestion is being mooted that Renfrew Airport may be used by N.A.T.O. forces? Is he aware that that will not be a substitute satisfactory either to the engineers or to the people of Scotland? Is he aware that if it is taken over by N.A.T.O. the skilled men will hardly be required? Will he keep that in mind?

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I note the hon. Member's views.
