§ 50. Colonel Gomme-Duncanasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether, in view of the fact that the greater part of A9 between Perth and Pitlochry is below the required two-lane standard, he will now authorise improvement under the expanded road programme of those sections of the road which are still sub-standard.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterSeveral improvement schemes on the length of the Edinburgh-Thurso trunk road between Perth and Pitlochry are under consideration in connection with the expanded road programme. I cannot go further than this at present.
§ Colonel Gomme-DuncanMay I ask my right hon. Friend to bear in mind, as I am sure he will, that this is an exceedingly dangerous road even for the most careful drivers, and therefore the earlier consideration that can be given to it, the better?
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterI agree with my hon. and gallant Friend that there are dangerous stretches on this road, and I am anxious to get ahead with the programme as soon as I can.
