HC Deb 01 February 1955 vol 536 c882
23 and 24. Mr. Pryde

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many people are at present on the waiting list seeking admission to Edinburgh hospitals;

(2) how many applications for admission to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary are at present before the hospital board.

Commander Galbraith

At the end of 1954 the total number of persons recorded as awaiting admission to Edinburgh hospitals was 8,567, of whom 3,659 were on the list of the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Mr. Pryde

How many private beds were in those hospitals?

Commander Galbraith

The hon. Gentleman must give me notice of that question.

Mr. Pryde

I beg to give notice that, due to the alarming nature of that reply, I shall, at the earliest possible opportunity, raise the matter on the Adjournment.
