HC Deb 14 December 1955 vol 547 c1199
32. Mr. Alport

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will hold an inquiry into the intimidation of persons in responsible positions in the administration and other branches of public life in Buganda.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

I am watching the situation very carefully, but I do not think that an inquiry would serve a useful purpose at the present time.

Mr. Alport

May I ask my right hon. Friend whether any initiative was taken by the Great Lukiko to suggest that an inquiry should be held?

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

I think that if there ever was such a suggestion it was a rather different form of inquiry which was in mind.
