asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many local authorities are now engaged in slum clearance; and how many houses and households are thus involved.

Mr. Deedes

During 1955, 206 local authorities submitted to my right hon. Friend 608 compulsory purchase or clearance orders involving 17,190 unfit houses and 57,464 occupants.

Can the Minister say how many of these plans are now being implemented and houses demolished?
