HC Deb 12 December 1955 vol 547 c796
5. Mr. Dodds

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what progress has been made in the costings investigations into the price of fish.

Mr. Amory

The Authority's intention has been to complete the investigation this year, but the operation is taking much longer than was expected and I am disappointed that a report cannot now be expected before next March.

Mr. Dodds

Will the right hon. Gentleman see that we do get it next March in view of the fact that these investigations have been going on since 1952, and while I cannot say that the price of fish is too high, it is known that people are interested in the matter and would like to know whether they are getting a fair deal or not?

Mr. Amory

I am in touch with the White Fish Authority on this matter with a view to expediting the conclusion of the investigation.
