HC Deb 05 December 1955 vol 547 c8
12. Lieut.-Colonel Lipton

asked the Minister of Supply how many persons employed in his Department were dismissed or asked to resign on security grounds during the past three years; and what payment from public funds was made to the persons concerned on the termination of their employment.

Mr. Erroll

One unestablished officer with insufficient service to qualify for a gratuity was dismissed. One established officer resigned on request. He will be eligible for pension and additional allowance on reaching age 60, in accordance with the Superannuation Acts.

Lieut.-Colonel Lipton

Is the hon. Gentleman satisfied that there has been reasonable financial treatment in the cases to which he has referred, compared with similar cases in other Government Departments?

Mr. Erroll

This is a general Question involving the Superannuation Acts, and the hon. and gallant Member's supplementary should, therefore, really be addressed to my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
