§ 24. Mr. Willeyasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when the Reorganisation Commission for Pigs and Bacon will present its report; and if he will make a statement.
Mr. AmoryI would refer the hon. Gentleman to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Huddersfield, West (Mr. Wade) on 17th November.
§ Mr. WilleyIs the right hon. Gentleman now aware that he is unique in not recognising the present pig muddle when he has today revealed how awfully expensive this muddle is? Will he, therefore, ask the Commission to expedite its report so that we can get something done?
Mr. AmoryThe answer I gave just now shows how expensive this was a year ago and in the first half of this year. It did not relate specifically to the last few months. I have several times told the hon. Gentleman of the importance I attach to the Reorganisation Commission for Pigs and Bacon, and in view of the importance of its work, I think it would be a great disservice to press it to hurry with its difficult and very important job.
