HC Deb 05 December 1955 vol 547 cc23-4
36. Captain Pilkington

asked the Minister of Health how the state of children's teeth today compares with the position in 1946.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Health (Miss Patricia Hornsby-Smith)

Comparable information is not available, but my right hon. Friend is advised that there has been some deterioration, although facilities for treatment have increased.

Captain Pilkington

Can my hon. Friend indicate why she thinks this deterioration has taken place?

Miss Hornsby-Smith

The deterioration is believed to be due to more frequent consumption of carbo-hydrates.

Mr. Gresham Cooke

Has my hon. Friend any report on the deterioration of the teeth of hon. Members after wrestling with the Koga Two loaves sent to them this morning?
