§ 42. Mr. Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will introduce the necessary legislation for the purpose of abolishing private fee-paying employment agencies.
§ Major Lloyd-GeorgeNo, Sir.
§ Mr. LewisIs the Home Secretary aware that the unions concerned, and the T.U.C., have expressed a desire for this to take place? Will he consult the trade unions concerned to see what is their view in connection with it?
§ Major Lloyd-GeorgeI think that the hon. Member ought to realise that the basis of this matter is the view of the International Labour Organisation, which suggested that supervision is necessary. I should have thought that supervision, not abolition, was the proper thing in this case.
