HC Deb 28 April 1955 vol 540 cc1049-50
12. Mr. de Freitas

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many representatives of his Department will attend the atomic Civil Defence exercise to be held in Nevada this week.

Major Lloyd-George

None, Sir, but the Director General of Civil Defence and my Chief Scientific Adviser were members of a team of British representatives who attended a recent comparable test.

Mr. de Freitas

I did not hear the full answer. Can the Home Secretary assure us that he is in close enough touch with the United States authority so that we can learn everything there is to learn from these important developments?

Major Lloyd-George

I am sorry the hon. Member did not hear the last part of my answer. It was that the Director General of Civil Defence and my Chief Scientific Adviser were members of a team of British representatives who attended a recent comparable test.
