§ 10. Mr. A. Hendersonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will give an assurance that it remains the policy of Her Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom to implement all the provisions of the 1953 Agreement with the Egyptian Government concerning self-government and self-determination for the Sudan.
§ Mr. H. MacmillanYes, Sir.
§ Mr. HendersonMay I ask the Foreign Secretary whether this reply would continue to operate in the event of the Sudanese establishing an independent sovereign republic?
§ Mr. MacmillanThe policy of the Government is to adhere to the agreement into which we have entered. Any change in the relevant provisions of the Anglo-Egyptian Agreement on the Sudan would, I think, require a formal approach to the co-domini.
