HC Deb 06 April 1955 vol 539 cc1159-60
30. Captain Pilkington

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he will consider making regulations to give special priority in public transport queues to members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade going on duty.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I have no powers to make such regulations.

Captain Pilkington

Will my right hon. Friend consider giving some guidance in this matter, in that it is very important that these people should be on duty when they are required?

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I quite agree, but the trouble when one starts giving guidance in matters of this kind is that there are other categories of people who may feel that they have similar claims.
