HC Deb 06 April 1955 vol 539 c1303

Considered in Committee and reported, without Amendment.

Motion made, and Question proposed, That the Bill be now read the Third time.

10.0 p.m.

Mr. Ede (South Shields)

On behalf of the Trustees of the British Museum I desire to express to the House very sincere thanks for the expedition with which the Bill has been considered, and to thank the House for the opportunity which the Bill gives to the Trustees more fully to discharge their duties under the Trust.

The Financial Secretary to the Treasury (Mr. Henry Brooke)

On behalf of the Government, I thank the right hon. Gentleman for what he has just said in the name of the Trustees. We, too, are glad that the Bill has got through so smoothly. I think it would be proper to mention that this is the third museum or gallery Bill which the House has passed in the space of six months and that we can all take credit for that.

Question put and agreed to.

Bill accordingly read the Third time and passed.
