HC Deb 06 April 1955 vol 539 c1159
29. Mr. Ernest Davies

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation how many A special licences granted in accordance with the provisions of the Transport Act, 1953, have been revoked under Section 9 (4) of that Act.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

None, Sir.

Mr. Davies

How can the Minister account for this, since this Section was included in the 1953 Act to enable action to be taken should the base of the vehicle change after disposal? Is he not aware that a very large number of vehicles are no longer operating from the bases at which they were placed previously when under B.R.S., and consequently the same services are not being provided? Will he look back at the statement made by his predecessor on this matter?

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

The reason why none has in fact been so revoked is because the respective authorities throughout the country have not been satisfied that any conditions justifying this have arisen.
