HC Deb 05 April 1955 vol 539 cc999-1000
51. Mr. Emrys Hughes

asked the Prime Minister in view of the fact that President Roosevelt first proposed that the talks, which afterwards took place at Yalta, should take place in Scotland, if he will propose that the next top-level talks be held in Scotland.

Mr. Crookshank

Although the cogent reasons connected with the war which prompted President Roosevelt to suggest the north of Scotland do not exist today, my right hon. Friend will certainly bear the hon. Member's suggestion in mind. On the last occasion, however, the possibilities mooted ranged from Alaska to Cyprus, and no doubt there will be similar rivalry on future occasions.
