HC Deb 04 April 1955 vol 539 c810
22. Captain Pilkington

asked the Minister of Food how many foods have been decontrolled by his Department since 1951.

Mr. Amory

Controls have been removed from some 40 categories of foodstuffs.

Captain Pilkington

In view of the fact that such things as meat, eggs, cheese and bacon are cheaper than when under control—[HON. MEMBERS: "Meat?"]—meat, eggs, cheese and bacon are cheaper than when under control, when will he decontrol the remaining foods?

Mr. Amory

There are very few foodstuffs left under control today.
