HC Deb 21 October 1954 vol 531 c1380
45. Mr. Steward

asked the Prime Minister whether he is in a position to make a statement on the known course and scope of Soviet Russian experiments in the field of atomic energy and the hydrogen bomb.

The Prime Minister (Sir Winston Churchill)

As I have said before, it would not be in the public interest to disclose the extent of our information relating to Russian nuclear weapon experiments. The subject continues to occupy our unceasing attention.

Mr. Anthony Greenwood

Would the right hon. Gentleman say how many more months are to elapse before he takes the "immediate initiative" in calling for a high-power conference on this subject?

The Prime Minister

I am not able to impose any time limit on these prospects or proceedings.
