HC Deb 23 November 1954 vol 533 cc1052-3
46. Mr. Grimond

asked the Prime Minister what use is to be made of Dorneywood, given to the nation by Lord Courtauld-Thomson.

Mr. Crookshank

I have been asked to reply.

My right hon. Friend cannot make a statement at present since, as was announced yesterday on behalf of Lord Courtauld-Thomson's executors, some aspects of this matter are at present sub judice.

Mr. Grimond

Have the Government come to any decision as to whether they would accept in principle this most generous gift from Lord CourtauldThomson, subject to clearing up the legal difficulties, or is it possible that the intention may fail completely and that the gift may have to be refused?

Mr. Crookshank

My right hon. Friend felt that he could not make any statement on this subject owing to the circumstances which have arisen.
