§ 34. Mr. Morleyasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will arrange for the Housing Return to include in future a statement of the number of certificates of disrepair given under the Housing Repairs and Rents Act, 1954.
§ Mr. SandysNo, Sir. I would hesitate to enlarge the scope of the Housing Return, which is already a fairly voluminous document.
§ Mr. MorleyDoes not the right hon. Gentleman agree that it would be very easy to get these figures from the local authorities, and that they would help to show whether the tenants were receiving benefit or not from the Housing Repairs and Rents Act?
§ Mr. SandysI think that there are other Questions on the Order Paper on that matter.
§ Mr. ChetwyndIs it not very desirable that this information should be available so that we can see whether the Act is working as it was intended to work, and cannot the Minister call for this information at regular intervals?
§ Mr. SandysThe first returns have not been received on this subject, and when I see them, I will consider in what form they could most conveniently be made available.
