HC Deb 19 November 1954 vol 533 c724

Lords Amendment: In page 86, line 1, leave out "seven", and insert: not less than seven nor mare than ten.

Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

This Amendment and the following Amendment, in line 4, give effect to two undertakings which we gave in Standing Committee. The first was to consider making it easier for not less than two members of the board to represent the views of the workmen in coal mines, and the second, to take powers to increase the board membership by two in the event of statutory qualifications being required for managers of mines now under the Metalliferous Mines Regulations Act, 1872, and by a further two in the event of such qualifications being required for quarry managers. This Amendment carries out these two undertakings.

Question put, and agreed to.

Subsequent Lords Amendments, to the Amendment in page 89, line 27, agreed to.
