HC Deb 16 November 1954 vol 533 c208
36. Brigadier Clarke

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will give an assurance that there will be no curtailment of house-building in the bomb-damaged cities.

Mr. Sandys

The rate of house-building in particular areas may vary from year to year, but I can give my hon. and gallant Friend the assurance that I shall most carefully watch the needs of bomb-damaged cities.

Brigadier Clarke

Does my right hon. Friend appreciate that the rate of house-building has trebled since the Socialists were in office? I hope that he keeps it up. We still need houses very badly in Portsmouth.
