HC Deb 09 November 1954 vol 532 cc1015-6
10. Mr. Emrys Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for War what action he has taken to prevent the infiltration of the British Army by Fascists; and with what results.

Mr. Head

My reply to the hon. Member's Question last Tuesday covered both Fascists and Communists.

Mr. Hughes

Does the right hon. Gentleman recollect that during our consideration of the Army Estimates the hon. and gallant Member for Worthing (Brigadier Prior-Palmer) referred to the fact that there were in the Army bone-headed tinpot Hitlers."—[OFFICIAL, REPORT, 16th March, 1954; Vol. 525, c. 251.] What steps has the right hon. Gentleman taken to rid the Army of those "bone-headed tinpot Hitlers"? Has he thrown them out of the Army or promoted them to the Army Council?

Mr. Head

I think that my hon. and gallant Friend's references were metaphorical.
