HC Deb 02 November 1954 vol 532 cc209-10
45. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Prime Minister what steps he has taken since last June to bring about a meeting between himself and Mr. Chou En-lai, of China; and with what result.

The Prime Minister (Sir Winston Churchill)

Sir, I have not taken any steps.

Mr. Hughes

Does the Prime Minister not realise that it would be helpful to international relations to take such steps, and to indicate the circumstances in which he thinks such a meeting would be propitious?

The Prime Minister

I do not think I had better try to add to my answer.

Mr. Hughes

On a point of order. I hereby give notice that I shall raise this matter on the Adjournment at the earliest opportunity.
