Low)I am aware of the rise in the price of mercury, but my information does not suggest that there is any serious difficulty in obtaining supplies for industrial purposes in this country. I know of nothing in the situation which would justify representations to the Government of the United States.
Mr. WilsonIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that recently acute concern has been expressed on this question by industrialists, and in some of the City columns of reputable newspapers? Will he have another look at it and see whether there is not increased stockpiling?
§ Mr. LowI have had a look at this matter. It is my information that the 201 importers and main users in this country do not expect undue difficulty in the maintenance of supplies. I have no evidence that the increased imports by the United States of America are due to increased stockpiling.
