HC Deb 27 May 1954 vol 528 c589
13. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Minister of Education, approximately, how many young people are now receiving part-time education.

Miss Horsbrugh

In the educational year 1952–53 there were some 280,000 part-time day and 791,000 evening students under 21 years of age.

Mr. Sorensen

Could the right hon. Lady say whether she has had reports on the education of these young people and whether, in fact, this scheme is proving satisfactory?

Miss Horsbrugh

It is proving extremely satisfactory, and I am glad that the number from the part-time day schools is going up.
