HC Deb 25 May 1954 vol 528 cc207-8
44. Mr. George Craddock

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will confirm the boundaries of the Yorkshire Dales National Park as recommended by the National Parks Commission; and if he will institute a joint planning board with a single planning officer of its own for the aforementioned proposed National Park.

Mr. Marples

My right hon. Friend has not yet received his inspector's report on the inquiry which has just been held, and until he has had an opportunity of considering it he cannot say what his decision will be.

Mr. Craddock

Will the Minister of Housing and Local Government not think about the pattern of the arrangements which were made for the Peak District and see whether that might not be followed in Yorkshire?

Mr. Marples

My right hon. Friend will bear that point in mind, but the inquiry by the inspector was not held until 13th May, and it is rather early to expect his comprehensive report.
