§ 34. Mr. Godberasked the Minister of Agriculture what steps he is taking to see that the leaflets which he has now issued on fatstock marketing are brought to the attention of all farmers.
§ The Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture (Mr. G. R. H. Nugent)The leaflets have been given good publicity through the Press and the National Farmers' Union and other organisations. To supplement them a shorter leaflet in popular form is being sent to every farmer in the first half of June explaining the fatstock guarantees and what the farmer must do to get the payments due to him.
§ Mr. GodberWhile thanking my hon. Friend for that reply, may I ask if he is aware of the utmost need to bring the whole of this matter to the notice of the farmers so that they may know exactly what is required of them, because they are being asked to undertake a big change-over in the marketing of their fat-stock.
§ Mr. NugentWe are aware that this is a big change. We are holding provincial conferences throughout the country and we think that these, combined with this shorter leaflet, will put the scheme over to the farming community.
