HC Deb 24 May 1954 vol 528 c12
21. Mr. Palmer

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what estimate he has made of the total expenditure likely to be incurred by the British Electricity Authority as a result of the proposed change of its title to Central Electricity Authority.

Mr. Joynson-Hicks

I do not expect this change to involve the Authority in any substantial expenditure.

Mr. Palmer

Is not the taking away of the robust title of the British Electricity Authority, which when the new Scottish Bill becomes an Act will still embrace the whole of England and Wales, frivolous in the extreme? Will the Government reconsider the matter?

Mr. Joynson-Hicks

I do not think that Scotland would consider it frivolous.
