§ 4. Lieut-Colonel Liptonasked the Attorney-General on how many occasions the Royal Commission on Marriage and Divorce has met since the taking of evidence was concluded; and when a report is to be published.
§ 3. Mr. Holtasked the Attorney-General when the report of the Royal Commission on Marriage and Divorce set up by the previous Administration in July, 1951. may be expected.
§ The Attorney-GeneralThere have been 37 meetings of the Royal Commission since the last public hearing of evidence. It is hoped that the preparation of the report will be completed by the end of this year.
§ Lieut-Colonel LiptonIs the Attorney-General aware that his answer will be received with some satisfaction? Will he take this opportunity of denying the entirely mischievous statement which appeared in the "News of the World" and elsewhere that the Commission is so divided in its opinion that it is quite in-capable of producing a report; and that the chairman was proposing to ask for the Commission to be dissolved on those grounds?
§ The Attorney-GeneralI am sure that the bon. and learned Member has, by that question, achieved the result which he desires.
