HC Deb 10 May 1954 vol 527 cc844-5
33. Mr. Willey

asked the Minister of Food what conditions may be imposed regarding the retail sale of butter sold by his Department.

Dr. Hill

None, Sir.

Mr. Willey

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that Sunderland grocers have decided to continue rationing? Will he do all he can to encourage retailers to distribute fairly and mitigate price increases?

Dr. Hill

I agree with the hon. Gentleman that we need the co-operation of wholesalers and retailers in fair and sensible distribution. The point of my answer was that, as far as the Ministry is concerned, no conditions have been laid down.
