HC Deb 10 May 1954 vol 527 c830
14. Mr. A. Henderson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what recent representations have been received from the Greek Government with regard to Cyprus.

22. Mr. E. Wakefield

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what reply Her Majesty's Government have given to recent representations from the Greek Government in regard to Cyprus.

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd

I would refer to the reply which my right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary gave in answer to a Question on 15th March by the hon. Lady the Member for Holborn and St. Pancras. South (Mrs. Jeger).

Mr. Henderson

Does that mean that further representation has been made by the Greek Government on this matter either to this country or to our allies?

Mr. Lloyd

I would ask the right hon. and learned Gentleman to study the answer given by my right hon. Friend. I cannot go beyond it.

Mr. Wakefield

Has my right hon. and learned Friend read the leading article which appeared in "The Times" on 1st May, and which was written subsequently to the answer given on an earlier occasion? If so, may I ask whether the attitude of Her Majesty's Government is likely to be modified as a result of that article?

Mr. Lloyd

I have no comment to make on that at present.
