§ 5. Mr. Jayasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has considered the Report of the Monopoly Commission on the calico printing industry; and what action he proposes to take.
§ Mr. P. ThorneycroftI have arranged to discuss this Report with the industry. I shall make a further statement on this matter in due course.
§ Mr. JayHad not the President had this Report in his hands for some months before it was published? If he withholds these -reports from the House, ought he not to be able to make up his mind as soon as we are allowed to see them?
§ Mr. ThorneycroftI can assure the right hon. Gentleman that I have no intention of making immediate or early decisions on any of these cases. These reports from the Monopolies Commission are large, complex and important, and I think they require very careful study before any Government takes action on them.
