32. Mr. Willey

asked the Minister of Food whether he will make a statement on the policy of Her Majesty's Government about the marketing of pigs.

I would refer the hon. Member to the Appendix to the White Paper (Cmd. 9104) issued on 19th March. On 5th May leaflets will be issued giving full details for the information of farmers and the trade. I will have copies placed in the Library of the House.

Mr. Willey

Is the right hon. and gallant Gentleman aware that we want to know more about the longer-term plans of the Government? We appreciate that the marketing of pigs is a very difficult problem. The sooner we get a statement about the Government's long-term policy the better it will be for everyone concerned.

I have answered the Question which the hon. Gentleman asked me. He says "the sooner the better. "The day after tomorrow is not so bad really.
