HC Deb 02 March 1954 vol 524 c990
16. Mr. E. Fletcher

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has now received the observations of the Savoy directors with regard to the transfer of the Berkeley Hotel to the Worcester Buildings Company (London) Limited; and what action he proposes to take in the matter.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

I have not yet received the directors' observations but I expect them towards the end of this week.

Mr. Fletcher

May we take it that, as soon as these observations have been received, the President of the Board of Trade will arrange a full inquiry into what is generally regarded as having been a very disreputable transaction?

Mr. Thorneycroft

As soon as these observations are received, I shall consider them and decide what action I ought properly to take.
