19. Air Commodore Harveyasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is satisfied that fire-fighting services situated on airfields in the Colonies are up to date; and when the last inspections were carried out by officials of his Department.
§ Mr. LytteltonThe efficiency of fire and rescue services on airfields in the Colonial Territories is the responsibility of the local governments, who can and do call on the technical knowledge of the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation for advice.
Air Commodore HarveyIs my right hon. Friend aware that a recent event, which is sub judice, has led to some concern? Is he satisfied that the facilities are reviewed from time to time, because in these days they rapidly become out of date?
§ Mr. LytteltonThe matter to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers is still under consideration. I am never satisfied about these matters, and I will bring the conclusions of the inquiry to the notice of the Government.
