HC Deb 17 June 1954 vol 528 c2274
46. Mr. Emrys Hughes

asked the Prime Minister if he will make a statement on the staff talks in Washington.

The Prime Minister

I have nothing to add to my reply to Questions on this subject on 15th June, but I must emphasise that any examinations undertaken are without commitment.

Mr. Hughes

Can the right hon. Gentleman assure us that in view of the warning of the Chancellor of the Exchequer that we need to cut defence expenditure there will be a Treasury official present to see that they do not get involved in financial commitments?
