With your permission, Mr. Speaker, I will now make a short statement.

Some weeks ago the President of the United States invited the Foreign Secretary and myself to spend a week-end as his guests in Washington. The invitation was cordially accepted and it has been arranged for the visit to take place during the week-end beginning 25th June.

I am sure the House will welcome that statement and will wish the right hon. Gentleman and the Foreign Secretary a successful trip. May I also express the hope that these talks may lead on to the further talks for which the House expressed its desire a few weeks ago?
